- 17 professional soccer matches and 50+ other events per season

AQUARIUM
- Potential $3.1 billion in net new economic impact in the State
- More than 50% of attendance could be expected out of state
- Projected 900,000 Annual Visitors – more than 50% coming from outside of Michigan
- Projected $350 million cost (today’s dollars)
Financials/Need for Lodging Proposal Increase
- Projected $120 million gap to complete the amphitheater & soccer stadium. The aquarium project is still in the early stages of planning.
- To generate enough annual revenue to bond for $120 million, Kent County needs the authority to move its Lodging Tax from 5% to 8%.
- County lodging tax revenue:
- 5% Capture: $15,000,000 – current amount
- 3% Capture (Year 1): $9,000,000 Proposed visitor tax addition
- Total Year 1: $24,000,000 – total 8% if approved!
